Fractional CTO · AI-Native Engineering

Code is cheap. Judgment is not.

I'm Giulio De Luise. I help teams rebuild how they engineer as agents write more of the code.

Hands-on. One to three days a week. Fully remote.

01 — What I do

Fix the system, not the output.

/01

Build the harness

Agents need clear intent, good context, the right tools and fast feedback. You set the outcome. They do more of the work.

  • Repos built for people and agents
  • Shared specs, tools and evals
/02

Reshape the team

When code is cheap, attention is the constraint. Engineering moves upstream: framing problems, specifying intent, judging results.

  • Clear owners for every spec
  • Hire for judgment, not output
/03

Run agents in production

A demo is not production. Agents need boundaries, constant evaluation and a way back when they fail.

  • Permissions, evals and cost tracking
  • Rollback, audit and human sign-off

02 — About

25 years turning decisions into working systems.

Enterprise software first, then products, platforms and data for fast-growing companies. I've led engineering and data teams and founded companies.

I still build.

You can't redesign how a team works without doing the work.

03 — When to call me

Your engineering changed. Your operating model didn't.

Building a product

  1. 01

Agents ship more code, but not more confidence

  2. 02

A prototype works and now must work in production

  3. 03

You need a senior technical lead before a full-time CTO

Delivering for clients

  1. 01

You want to sell outcomes but still bill hours

  2. 02

Every project rebuilds the same context from scratch

  3. 03

Everyone uses AI, but margins haven't moved

04 — Questions

Before we start

Do you write code?

Yes, when it's the fastest way to decide. But I'm not extra capacity. I improve the system your engineers work in.

Will agents replace my engineers?

No. Their work moves upstream. You get more from the team you have.

We already have a CTO. Does this help?

Yes. Your CTO is usually who I work with most.

How do you charge?

A monthly retainer, agreed upfront. Mostly cash, sometimes equity. Part can be tied to results.

What happens when you leave?

Nothing breaks. Everything lives inside your organisation.

Remote or on-site?

Fully remote.

05 — Contact

Agents do more of the work. Redesign the rest.

The question isn't how much code AI can write. It's how your team should work once code stops being the constraint.

Tell me what's changing and what's breaking.

If it's a fit, we start small and prove it.
